Formed in 2024, the band features the talents of Devon Martene on fiddle, whistles, and percussion, and Becky Van Harn on guitar and vocals. Together, they blend their passion for ancient melodies with contemporary energy, creating a sound that is both rooted in tradition and excitingly new.
Drawing from a vibrant blend of Irish, Scottish, Bluegrass, Quebecois, Ontarian, and Cape Breton musical traditions, Feed the Ducks weaves together these diverse influences to create a unique and captivating style. Inspired by Celtic greats like Old Blind Dogs, Breabach, Talisk, The Dardanelles, and Dallahan, their music combines the emotional depth and rhythmic vitality of these rich traditions with a modern flair.
Whether it’s a heart-pounding reel or a soulful ballad, their performances invite listeners on a vibrant musical journey that feels both timeless and innovative. Feed the Ducks is not just a nod to tradition but a vibrant reimagining of it.


Devon Martene is a passionate musician with roots in the rich culture of the Ontario fiddle tradition. Devon was born in Exeter, Ontario, and began his musical journey at the age of 5, when his grandfather introduced him to fiddle music. Devon’s dedication and talent was evident from a young age, and he earned numerous awards in fiddle competitions around Ontario, and went on to release his debut solo album at the age of just 16. Since then, Devon’s style has been influenced by other genres including Irish, Scottish, Classical, and Bluegrass. His skill on the fiddle, whistles, and bodhrán, along with his energetic stage presence make Devon the key to Feed the Ducks’ unique style and energy.
Devon achieved a Master of Music in Performance (MMus) from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2017, and is also a versatile freelance French Horn player. As fiddler for the Steel City Rovers, he has toured extensively throughout the U.S. and Canada, sharing his unique style, and gathering inspiration along the way.

Becky Van Harn is a singer and guitarist whose musical journey began at an early age. Becky was born in St. Thomas, Ontario, and began singing lessons at just 4 years old, developing a passion for music that has only deepened over the years. Becky began singing barbershop at the age of 10, and honed her skills in vocal harmony in several choruses and quartets over the years, including HOPE Barbershop Quartet. Becky plays with her guitar tuned to DADGAD, making her style of accompaniment cohesive and dynamic. With her love of traditional ballads and innovative Celtic styles, Becky brings a blend of folk and contemporary styles to her music.
Becky is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in History (MA) at Western University, and seamlessly balances her academic pursuits with her passion for music. With years of experience and a vibrant stage presence, she offers a skilled vocal performance and upbeat rhythm guitar.
