Ailsa Craig (Gaelic for “fairy rock”) is a vibrant village of nearly 1200 people, located just 20 minutes north-west of London, Ontario. Founded by Scots, the Village’s namesake is the Island of Ailsa Craig, off the western Scottish coast in the Firth of Clyde. The Island is famous for its high-quality microgranite, and it is only one of two sources in the world for the granite used in curling stones. Both the Island of Ailsa Craig and the Scottish Thistle are featured prominently in the Village’s official crest. Scottish pride runs deep in “the Craig.”

The people of Ailsa Craig have a tradition of gathering together as a community. Beginning in 1974, for 50 years we celebrated the annual “Gala Days,” with music, fun, food, games – and for a time – turtle racing. For Ailsa Craig’s 150 th anniversary in 2024, the community decided to launch its first Highland Games and Scottish Festival on the fourth Saturday of July. It was a great success and a new tradition was born.

The Ailsa Craig Highland Games and Scottish Festival is held at the Ailsa Craig Recreation Centre, 155 Annie Ada Shipley Street. We ask everyone to treat our home and our grounds just like your own.

In keeping with our decision to make this a family-friendly event, admission is by donation. We appreciate your support so that the Ailsa Craig Highland Games and Scottish Festival will be back to welcome you in 2026.
